Software and external infrastructure reduce internal coordination while people keep responsibility for consequential outcomes. - Three-layer architecture: protect the customer relationship, automate the operational middle, rent infrastructure where ownership does not create a durable position, and preserve accountable human judgment across all three layers. - Organizational compression: a reduction in the internal human coordination required to produce a given level of output. Labor does not disappear; it moves among employees, software, contractors, providers, and infrastructure companies. - When intelligence becomes cheap, advantage migrates to complementary assets: customer relationships, trust, governed proprietary data, organization-specific context, workflow integration, evaluation, and judgment. - Judgment debt: the delayed liability created when automation removes the junior work through which future experts acquire judgment (the apprenticeship squeeze). - Legitimacy test: whether customers, regulators, employees, and the public accept a system and can identify who remains answerable for its decisions. - Early evidence (Kim and Koning, 2026, HBS working paper on AI-native firms): among Y Combinator cohorts 2020 to 2024, AI-native startups had about 25% fewer employees than comparable non-AI startups. Treat as emerging evidence about young venture-backed firms, not a settled verdict. ## Reader tools [Tools hub](https://corelooppress.com/tools/) | [Detailed Markdown guide](https://corelooppress.com/tools/index.md) | [Machine-readable catalog](https://corelooppress.com/catalog.json) Twelve free interactive tools cover reader reflection, published evidence and model terminology. Tools 01 to 03 reflect a reader's views, values and work; they are not representative surveys or measured risk scores. Tools 04 to 11 put dated external evidence beside reader guesses, choices or source-led exploration. Tool 12 uses primary definitions and release documents to clarify open versus closed AI models. Subjects span occupations, business adoption, compute concentration, electricity demand, company filings, frontier organizations, facility resources, national power systems and model access rights. Results can be inspected and shared; each evidence view identifies its source and limit. Tool 09, [Frontier IC25](https://corelooppress.com/tools/say-versus-spend/frontier-ic25/), is a fixed 2026 editorial map on a separate page. It follows 25 model builders, scale enablers and AI-native deployers using linked organization evidence and a dated Epoch Capabilities Index comparison for selected builder models. Each profile leads with a dated, source-linked fact and offers landscape and portrait PNG cards plus a profile-specific share URL. It is not a top-25 rank, a model-shopping leaderboard or part of the IC 100 SEC-filing cohort. ### About you and your work - 01 [Where do you stand on AI?](https://corelooppress.com/tools/where-do-i-stand/) — Ten statements; personal map of views. Reader answers only. - 02 [What would you hate to lose?](https://corelooppress.com/tools/what-would-you-hate-to-lose/) — Pick three values; compare with the anonymous site tally. The tally is descriptive. - 03 [What protects your work from AI?](https://corelooppress.com/tools/exposure-audit/) — Seven work questions; editorial exposure and protection profile, not a measured risk score. ### Published evidence - 04 [Is your job exposed to AI?](https://corelooppress.com/tools/your-job-and-ai/) — Occupation guess versus research exposure, observed AI use, BLS employment and pay. Exposure is not job-loss prediction. - 05 [Is your industry using AI?](https://corelooppress.com/tools/is-your-industry-adopting/) — Guess firm adoption by industry, state and size; reveal the U.S. Census survey estimate. - 06 [Who shows up in the compute data?](https://corelooppress.com/tools/who-owns-the-compute/) — Seven guesses about chips, data centers and models; Epoch AI datasets have partial coverage. - 07 [How much power do data centers use?](https://corelooppress.com/tools/power-bill-of-intelligence/) — Four estimates: U.S. and global 2024 shares, global 2030 projection, Virginia commercial-sales growth. Berkeley Lab, IEA and EIA; models and years labeled separately. - 08 [What do companies say about AI?](https://corelooppress.com/tools/say-versus-spend/) — Start with the fixed IC 100 company list, compare AI mentions, filing passages and reported financial figures across the cohort, and open a company record. [Roster and rules](https://corelooppress.com/tools/say-versus-spend/ic100/). The separate [filing-language study](https://corelooppress.com/tools/say-versus-spend/filing-language/) traces deterministic text matches for generative AI, agents, compute and commercial language by fiscal year and group. A match records wording, not activity, spending or AI-only revenue. - 09 [What's happening at the frontier?](https://corelooppress.com/tools/say-versus-spend/frontier-ic25/) — Explore 25 source-linked organization profiles in three roles and one selected-model capability view. Editorial roster, not a performance rank. - 10 [What does a data center actually need?](https://corelooppress.com/tools/data-center-resources/) — Six claim cards about equipment, water, electricity and connections, each with a cited boundary. - 11 [Compare country electricity systems](https://corelooppress.com/tools/country-electricity/) — Compare electricity demand, generation and power mix across six places using one Ember snapshot. National totals do not establish local grid access. - 12 [How open is this AI?](https://corelooppress.com/tools/open-or-closed/) — Eight source-linked scenarios distinguish free APIs, downloadable weights, use rights, training disclosure and practical deployment. Its four-topic result is a record of quiz answers, not a model-openness score.
